Devi SnivelyDevi Snively (Writer/Director) - February 2010. Devi talks about creating award-winning films in Michiana,  film work in L.A., her first feature film Trippin’, and her next feature which she plans to hopefully shoot in the Midwest.

5cmpeterYou can now watch  David Boyer’s short film “5 CM Peter” online here on Vimeo.  David is our MAF Secretary and his script written in the style of director Judd Apatow (”The 4o-Year-Old Virgin”) won the Audience Choice Award last winter during our annual staged readings event.

It just received its World Premiere at our Winter Screening on February 26, 2010 at the Century Center where David was joined by cast and crew, including the production team that assisted him, Big Hat Cowboy Productions. Congratulations to David and all your cast and crew!

Tuesday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Cellar Door Restaurant, Holiday Inn Downtown at 213 W. Washington Street.

Rose Waldschmidt, chair of the MAF screenwriters group, will talk about the elements of screenwriting, creating strong characters, writing good dialogue, and how to avoid common mistakes. Other members of the screenwriters group will join her.

This free and open to the public presentation will take place at 7:30 p.m. immediately following our regular monthly Mid America Filmmakers meeting which begins at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to join us for both.

THREE OAKS — A party honoring the Vickers family will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Acorn Theater, 107 Generations Drive.

Recently, Jon Vickers, managing director of Browning Cinema at DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts, University of Notre Dame, accepted a position as cinema director at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. In addition, Jon, along with his wife, Jennifer, owns and operates Vickers Theatre in downtown Three Oaks.

“It is our intention to assure that our vision for the theatre continue, with opportunity for enhancement with new ownership. We are confident that we will find the right party,” Jon Vickers says.

The farewell evening at Acorn will include projecting scenes from Vicker’s favorite movies, music, snacks and soft drinks. A cash bar also will be available.

Jon Vickers plans to begin his new position at IU in March. The Vickers family will join him when the children finish the school year.
