Partnering With The B Movie Celebration/ The Indy Film Co-op

New Expanded Version of the Tromadance Film Festival New York, NY – Tromadance Founder Lloyd Kaufman and The B Movie Celebration announced the creation of a new expanded summer version of the Tromadance Film Festival in Franklin, Indiana, at this year’s American Film Market last November. This announcement included details on the transformation of the Tromadance Film Festival into a fully immersive film experience that now includes a larger screening schedule as well as more panel discussions and in-depth workshops covering a variety of topics pertinent to young filmmakers. Summer TromaDance takes place during the B Movie Celebration September 26th-28th in Franklin Indiana.

MAF Member Tara Eary gets into her first film festival

Hot on the heels of the news from Devi Snively, we’ve learned that MAF member Tara Eary has made it into her first film festival at DragonCon. This is not only Tara’s first film festival, but it is her first short film that she has done with members from MAF. The short film “Cannibal Lovers” was filmed late last year and has had some pick up shots filmed this year, and is currently in Post Production. Congrats to Tara and all the MAF members who’ve worked on this film!

MAF Member Devi Snively gets film into Palm Springs Film Fest

MAF Member and Directrix Devi Snively recently showed her short film “Death in Charge” to a local audience and had big news to share with everyone at the event. The short had been submitted and accepted into the prestigious Palm Springs Short Film Festival. Not only is this a HUGE short film festival, but it is an Academy Award Qualifying Film Festival. Of course, that doesn’t mean that Death in Charge will get an Academy Award, but it does mean that it is at least qualified to be nominated for one. And that is GREAT news. Congrats to Devi from all of us at Mid America Filmmakers!

ps. Also, Devi will soon have a home in the LA area, so we wish her the best of luck pursuing opportunities out West. Go Devi!

The new animated series Hip Hop Fables, by famed writer/creator/director Jack Olesker (creator of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), is holding open auditions for voiceover talent this Wednesday, June 25^th at WNIT Studios in Elkhart, IN (info on the location can be found HERE )

Several parts to this series have already been cast, and this is a casting call for additional characters required for an upcoming episode. The details are as follows (be sure to read all of the requirements):

Hip Hop Fables Auditions

Required: new V.O. talent for the parts of Jacky and Swifty.

Jacky is a rabbit, and is Macky’s wise-cracking, cocky and jealous brother.

Swifty is a slow-moving (middle-aged) turtle, a la Tortoise and the Hare.

Auditions are in WNIT-TV Studio at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 25 2008.

Please arrive prior to 12:30 pm for sign in.

Talent must be unagented and willing to join American Model & Talent Agency - the project’s exclusive talent partner.

MAF Member Devi Snively will premiere her short film “Death in Charge” on MAY 11, 2008 at 7:00 PM on the AFI CAMPUS in LOS ANGELES, CA. Going to be in the LA area and want to attend? Then RSVP HERE.

Has your acting been called campy? Then maybe you should attend Acting Camp! That’s right, you can learn to act and camp at the same time! Want some details? OK, you got it, here they are:

Acting Camp sponsored by New World Arts and Center Stage Academy (for ages 8 to 17):

Campers will receive morning instruction in choreography/movement, voice, and acting techniques in classes divided by age. Afternoons will be spent in rehearsal for the end of camp performance of scenes. Space is limited, please call to reserve your spot 574-538-7398. (Students will need to pack a lunch)

June 9th - 13th
Daily 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

*Final performance on June 13th at 5:30 p.m. at New World Arts

Early Registration May 26th (receive $25 discount)

David Boyer will be taking auditions for his film short ‘ Valentines Day’ on Saturday, May 17^th,2008 from Noon to 4pm at the Mishawaka-Penn Public Library in the “Friends Room”. Valentines Day will be a 3-5 Minute Film, and is a non paying, non union film. Participants will receive a copy of film.
