MAF Nov. 3 Meeting Topic: “Haunted Houses and Filmmaking”

MAF meetings are the 1st Tuesday of each month at WNIT TV studios at 300 W Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Free and open to the public! Each meeting includes a Making Movie Magic presentation after our order of business.

Dr. Bob Wenzel Gross, formerly a successful Musician, Filmmaker, Music Educator, Arts Administrator, and Behavioral Scientist, is now a semi-retired resident of Mishawaka, Indiana. Bob’s terminal degree is from Penn State University where he studied filmmaking and conducted scientific research experiments as part of his doctoral program. Today, filmmaking continues to play a significant role in Bob’s professional career.

During the Mid America Filmmakers (MAF) meeting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, Dr. Gross will deliver an original PowerPoint presentation entitled: A MAF Halloween Leftover Presentation: Haunted Houses and Filmmaking. His talk will show how, over a span of more than 75 years, filmmakers have developed a symbiotic relationship with haunted houses. The presentation will cover popular haunted house films, the role of filmmaking in the growing commercial haunted house industry, and how scientific researchers use advanced filmmaking equipment and techniques to investigate real haunted houses. Dr. Gross’ presentation will feature exclusive slides of anomalies recently filmed at real haunted houses. Moreover, Dr. Bob will hypothesize about how anomalies, often labeled ghosts, have existed for centuries, and how all the ingredients needed to make a ghost currently exist in our Universe. Dr. Bob Gross is also the author of a forthcoming book titled: The Nature and Value of Anomalous Experiences. His book is the result of 30 years of research related to how encounters with anomalies shape the human brain.
