Producer/Director Carl Obremski (Fresh Fruit Pie) teaches one of the most fundamental special effects techniques in film production: chroma keying, otherwise known as “greenscreening.” Chroma keying involves separating a subject from a solid color background so that an alternate background may be substituted. The technique could be used to project a map behind a weatherman or to transport a character to a far away world.
Carl will cover the principles of lighting a greenscreen, keying tools in Adobe After Effects, and common pitfalls to avoid. Experienced effects artists and newcomers alike can benefit greatly from the material. If you are at all interested in special effects, this is the seminar to go to!
This free and open to the public presentation will take place at 7:30 p.m. immediately following our regular monthly Mid America Filmmakers meeting which begins at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to join us for both. They are held at the Cellar Door restaurant at the Ramada Plaza at 213 W. Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
This is part a monthly series of filmmaking workshops. Please visit our website at www.midamericafilmmakers.org for updates and additional workshop listings.
