    MISSION STATEMENT

    To bring the art of film to “Mid America” (Indiana and bordering states) by expanding awareness of and interest in the social and cultural impact of independent filmmaking.

    This will be achieved by providing educational, creative and financial assistance to residents of Mid America who recognize non-commercial film as an important art form through which ideas are expressed, and by awarding grants and providing fiscal sponsorship for film projects that would not otherwise be possible.

MAF Supporter Jon Vickers Named First Director of IU Cinema

jonvickersIndiana University Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson announced today that Jon Vickers has been named the first director of the IU Cinema, pending approval by the IU Board of Trustees. Vickers currently serves as managing director the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame.

Jon and his wife Jennifer started the Vickers Theatre in Three Oaks, MI in 1996, an independent, art house cinema, where MAF and its members have screened local independent films for almost a decade. The Vickers are also Support Level members of MAF and help with promoting the River Bend Film Festival.

Congratulations, Jon!
