The Ohio Independent Film Festival is among the leading independent

film events in Ohio. The 2009 OIFF, In May 0f 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio,

will mark our 22nd festival in 15 years. Like many festivals, the

OIFF is a judged and internationally recognized line-up of first-class

independent films from around the world.

 

But here’s what is unique about the OIFF: it only accepts film and

video submissions *without* theatrical distribution and the festival

is programmed 100% from those submissions. Additionally, every film

and video entrant benefits from personal feedback from festival

programmers on his or her film.

 

So submit your films and videos! Deadlines to submit films and videos

for the 2009 OIFF are: February 1, 2009; March 1, 2009 (late). Please

FILM FESTIVAL

In the Spotlight this week is the 47th Annual ANN ARBOR FILM FESTIVAL (AAFF), one of the longest-running independent film festivals in North America. This esteemed, Academy-qualifying event showcases the finest in independent and experimental cinema in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

 

Variety recently selected the AAFF from a pool of 6000 festivals as one of their “Ten Festivals We Love”, for its bold vision and rich history of championing filmmakers. Over the years, the AAFF has premiered the films and early works of industry luminaries George Lucas, Kenneth Anger, Sally Cruikshank, Barbara Hammer, Yoko Ono, Agnes Varda, Will Vinton, Andy Warhol, and many more. The Festival distributes over $20,000 USD worth of awards and prizes, many sponsored by accomplished filmmakers such as Ken Burns, Michael Moore, Lawrence Kasdan, and Gus Van Sant. The AAFF also selects more than two dozen films to showcase on its traveling tour, with screenings in more than 20 venues across the U.S. Filmmakers participating on the Tour are paid for each screening of their work.

MAF and IVFF have united to showcase the talent of our local filmmakers at this year’s Art Beat in downtown South Bend.

Please join us Thursday, Sept 4th 2008 at the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown South Bend, IN.

Showings will be at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM with a chance to ask the filmmakers questions afterwards.
