Eliezer Eli, MAF Archives Chair, has been a film and video director/ producer for over thirty years. As a film school graduate, he has been involved in many aspects of productions, including producing and directing several award-winning video documentaries. The presentation will cover the basic principle of lighting for film and video productions. The purpose of this presentation is to build a foundation so one can construct different lighting set-ups as demanded by a script.

This free and open to the public presentation will take place immediately following our regular monthly Mid America Filmmakers meeting which begins at 7:00 p.m. You are welcome to join us for both.

Mid America Filmmakers is seeking short films for our annual Summer Screening in August (time and date T.B.A.). There will be an exciting selection of local and regional short films followed by a Q&A with area filmmakers. There is no fee to submit a film.

Deadline for entries is July 1, 2010.

The 2nd Annual River Bend Film Festival sponsored by Downtown South Bend and Mid America Filmmakers had an extremely successful and fun 3-day event this past weekend at IU South Bend and the Century Center. Filmmakers and festival goers came from all over Michiana and from around the country to take part in this unique event screening 70 films, three workshops, and guest speaker Lloyd Kaufman of Troma films who came in from New York with his team.

The festival closed Saturday night with the local premiere of MAF member Devi Snively’s first feature film TRIPPIN’ with over 100 film lovers  in attendance.  The festival also featured a local film block, which included the MAF $100 Movie Project winner 5 CM PETER by MAF member David Boyer, produced by BigHatCowboy Productions, who screened their own short as well, called SMALL CHANGE.

MAF president Tim Richardson is the festival director and his committee is made up of a number of fellow MAF members, as well as other film supporters and artists in the community.  The fest will continue to update their website www.riverbendfilmfest.org with photos and videos.
